reinstall the desktop gadget pannel using ‘Windows feature on or off’.
To turn Windows features on or off, you may follow the steps mentioned below:
    1. Click the Start button, click Control Panel, click Programs, and then click Turn Windows features on or off. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    2. To turn a Windows feature on, select the check box next to the feature. To turn a Windows feature off, clear the check box. Click OK.
Note: Restart the computer after uninstalling the game and then restart again after re-install.
For more information on ‘Windows feature on or off’, you may visit the link mentioned below:

If this doesn’t help, I will suggest you to enable Desktop sidebar gadget with user account control:
    1. As usual, we type in regedit in Start menu search field and hit enter to open Windows Registry Editor.
    2. Click, Yes for the UAC prompt (If you see any).
    3. Move to the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Sidebar \ Settings
    4. Here, you need to create a new DWORD value (32-bit) named “AllowElevatedProcess”.
    5. Next, double-click on the newly created “AllowElevatedProcess” and change the default value to “1”.
    6. Close Windows Registry Editor. Now you should be able to see the change in Desktop Gadget behavior.
