‘ipconfig’ not staying for long while navigating into Start->Run on Windows XP

When I type ipconfig into ‘Open’ field appears on the screen after selecting Start->Run on my PC running on Windows XP, the command prompt window will remain on the screen only for seconds. I can’t read out what is written on that window. How can I make it to stay for longer periods?

As a first step, press the ‘Start’ button and select the ‘Run’ option from the start menu. Wait until the ‘Open’ field pop up on the screen. Then, type cmd into that field using the keyboard. Press the ‘OK’ button visible under that field. This will bring up a black window on the screen. Type ipconfig into that window and read out the results. This window will remain on the screen until you close it.
