‘Open With’ command missing from context menu on Windows Vista

When I right click on applications installed into my PC running on Window Vista, I can’t view ‘Open With’ command in the context menu. However, it can be found on the menu bar located at the top part of the screen. How can I get back that command into context menu?

Click on ‘Start’ button located at the bottom left part of the screen. Select ‘All Programs’ from the options available on the start menu. Move your mouse towards ‘Accessories’ option afterwards and click ‘Notepad’ from the displayed list. Copy the text, [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\Op en With] @="{09799AFB-AD67-11d1-ABCD-00C04FC30936}" and paste it into notepad. Click the ‘Save As’ option under ‘File’ menu. Type in “OpenWith.reg” as file name and press the ‘OK’ button. Double click on OpenWith.reg file and click on Continue, Yes and OK buttons. After that, check whether the ‘Open With’ command has appeared again on the context menu.

    Hello friend...

it is easy to follow these steps to add the open with in the context menu..

If you've lost the Open With menu option for ALL file types, including non-executable files, follow this steps:

    1. Click Start, All Programs, Accesories, Notepad.

    2. Copy and paste this text:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\Op en With]
    @="{09799AFB-AD67-11d1-ABCD-00C04FC30936}"

    3. Click File, Save As, name the file "OpenWith.reg" (WITH THE QUOTATION MARKS) and click OK.

    4. Now double-click OpenWith.reg, click Continue, Yes, OK, and see if the problem is solved.

    All the Best!!
