Add/Remove programs not working properly, Keeps on checking for installation in network source

I have Compaq NC8230 laptop with Windows XP SP2 OS, my laptop was configured with the LAN connection for some days but now I am not using it. Now when I try to uninstall some of the programs from Add/Remove it just says "Searching the network for available programs.." even when it is not connected to the network and it just stucks there forever. What should I do now? I am unable to use the Add/Remove options at all. Can you please tell me any way to fix this issue?

Method 1: Try to login as Safe mode in your laptop by pressing F8 while booting system ..then try to uninstall your programs. still have the same problem try method 2

Method 2: Try to login as Administrator account and uninstall your programs
