Adding New Hardware on windows Xp manually?

My new SD card is not detecting when I inserted into the USB port. Some times the pen drive is also not detecting. At the first time, it showed the Hardware wizard but I clicked cancel. So I missed so I was unable to get the installation wizard. I know this will be the problem for not detecting. So I re-inserted the card reader but the system does not detects the USB and also not recognizing too.

Plug in your SD card or pen drive and wait for few seconds to get the Hardware wizard. Then follow the Hardware wizard steps to enable the pen drive or else Insert the drive and Go to start and click on it then select control panel. Now the control panel window will appears. There you can see a option Add Hardware. Click on Add Hardware once you saw. Now the Add Hardware Wizard window will appears. Click next then it will search for the new devices.Once search is done, finish the wizard process and start accessing the drive.

    dear friend,

If your computer is not detecting external USB drive then it may be the hardware issue.

But before going to that issue, you must check the other USB ports.

Insert the USB drive to any other USB port (backside if you are using desktop) & check it.

If it doesn't work then it is surely the driver issue.

Your driver is backdated & you need to update all the USB drivers.

Connect your computer to the internet & follow these steps to do that-

Open the Run window by tapping Windows key+R button together.

Type devmgmt.msc in the edit field & hit enter.

    Device manager window will open.

Expand the Universal Serial Bus Controller option.

Right click on every USB root hub option one by one & select Update Driver Software from the list.

It'll update all of your driver software.

After updating, restart your computer & then try to connect the USB.

    Hi,
Adding a device or hardware is not tough provided you have things under control.
Plug in your USB or SD card in the slot and then start the computer, watch if it senses, if it does the you may get the wizard and solve the problem.
Else Control Panel > Add Hardware > wizard will come and guide you to installation.

But make sure you have a perfect USB device, Pen Drive , SD card that is operational else nothing will happen.
Sometimes driver softwares of connecting ports are not enebled or corrupt check that too.

    Thank you.
