Bits is missing in Windows Vista

I have a Lenovo laptop which is powered by Windows Vista. I use to update my operating system everyday. However the last update I have done is on july. From that month, I cannot do system restore. My restore point has been overwritten. I have tried solutions on Microsoft Community but none seem to work. Bits is not listed under services. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Dear friend,

You can manually restart the BITS service by doing the following steps.

Click on start and type in services.msc in the search bar.

Under services check whether the following services are started.

    1.COM+ Event System :Automatic

    2.Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS)

If you have any other settings you have to correct it.

If COM+ Event System is not started then please run it manually, next run manually BITS service.

    EnjoY !!

    1. Open Administrative Tools by clicking the Start button, and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type administrative tools, and then click Administrative Tools.
    2. Double-click Services. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    3. Right-click the Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) service and then click Properties.
    4. On the General tab, next to Startup type, make sure that Automatic (Delayed Start) is selected.
    5. Next to Service status, check to see if the service is started. If it's not, click Start.
