Cannot delete items from Windows Media Player 11 library

I have recently installed Windows Media Player 11 into my PC running on Windows XP. Even though it plays both audio and video without any issues, I am not able to delete anything from the library. Please suggest me a way to delete the items from Windows Media Player 11 library.

First of all, clear the items from Windows Media Player database and see whether it resolves the issue. Click the ‘Start’ button for that and select ‘Run’ from the start menu pop up on the screen. Type %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player into the ‘Open’ box afterwards and press the ‘OK’ button. Select all the files and folder visible on the screen and click on the ‘Delete’ option after selecting the File menu. If the issue still persists, clean up the Windows Media Player database cache files. You need to type %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft into the ‘Open’ box for that. Then, you can click the ‘OK’ button and delete all files and folders appear on the screen afterwards.

Follow the below steps to delete a file from the library:
    1.Click the Library tab.
2.Right-click the item that you want to delete, and then click Delete.
3.To select multiple adjacent items, press and hold the SHIFT key while selecting. To select nonadjacent items, press and hold the CTRL key while selecting. Right-click the selected items, and then click Delete.
4.If prompted, click one of the following options:
    >Delete from library only (This option deletes the link from your library but it does not delete the linked file from your computer).
    >Delete from library and my computer (This option deletes both the link from your library and the file from your computer).

    Thank you.
