Cannot hear sound while plugging headphone into PC after Windows 8 upgrade

Few weeks ago, I have updated my PC to Windows 8 and almost all applications are working fine. There is no problem with audio when I play sound through speakers. But when I plug in earphones into my PC, I can hear any type of sounds through it. How can I fix up this audio issue?

Re: Cannot hear sound while plugging headphone into PC after Windows 8 upgrade

As a first step, press the Windows key + X key on the keyboard. Click the ‘Control Panel’ option from the menu pop up on the screen. Then, click on the ‘Hardware and Sound’ option available and hit ‘Sound’ option. A new window will pop up on the screen after that. Click the ‘Playback’ tab visible on that window. After that, right click inside the window and select ‘Show Disabled devices’ option from the pop-up menu. Locate your headphones from the list pop up on the screen afterwards and right click on it. Select ‘Enable’ from the righty click menu. Highlight the headphone after that and make a single click on ‘Set as Default’ option.
