Cannot sustain the changes made in folder options with Windows Explorer on Windows Vista

My PC is currently using Windows Vista Home Premium, Service Pack 1. It does allow me to open the windows explorer and make necessary changes in the folder view options. But, when I open this program again, the options will revert back to previous mode without displaying the changes. In what way can I avoid this?

if this problem is from the beginning after installing your OS, then your system OS should be re installed...
otherwise install windows security essentials and scan your system....

if your problem is still not solved restore your previous settings

    press windows button
    type system restore
    hit enter
    click next
choose the date when your system worked perfectly
    click next
it takes some times to restore your settings...
    restart your system

    that's it

    all the best
