Cannot switch PC running on Windows XP into sleep mode

It is not possible to put my PC running on Windows XP into sleep mode. Even though the system turns down by pressing the ‘Sleep’ button, it will start again after a couple of seconds. How can I avoid this?

Get into the desktop and right click on ‘My Computer’ icon available over there. Once you can find the pop-up menu, choose ‘Manage’ option from it. This will bring up the ‘Computer Management’ window from which choose the ‘Device Manager’ option. Click the plus sign next to ‘Network Adaptors’ for expanding it and locate your network adapter from the available list. Right click on it afterwards and click ‘Properties’ from the menu pop up on the screen. Press the ‘Power Management’ tab on the available window. Then, empty the check box next to “Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby” label by clicking on it. After that, make a single click on ‘OK’ button.

    Hello,
The Sleep mode allows you to save the screen from timing out. You can achieve the same safety by putting your PC into SCREENSAVEr mode. To do so, right click on the Desktop, and select Properties. Choose "Display" Tab. Select the screensaver as per your choice and you can even set the duration before the screen times out, equivalent to getting the lock screen on android. Thank YOu.
    Hope this helps.

Wishing all a Merry Christmas and a happy new year in advance. Regards..! :-)
