The Canon printer is new, and drivers are up to date.

Windows XP is pretty old Operating System, and the drivers you are trying to install are not designed to run on old OS like Windows XP, but Windows Vista/Windows7 and possibly Windows8 being the latest will be supported by the driver programmer and the manufacturers who think windowsXP is dead.

Chech the DVD if there is any directory named WindowsXP, may be XP compatible driver is stored there. if you dont find XP compatible Canon Printer driver , log into www.canon.com and find your printers specific, windowsXP compatible driver, download and install to solve the problem.

Dear friend in such a case you can make the windows search over internet for searching the drivers.

    Follow these steps.

    1. Right click my computer and then the device manager.

    2. Right click on the printer and then click update drivers.

    3. click on the search for the drivers automatically.

    4. You need to have active internet connection to be able to update.

    5. Your printer should work fine.
