CD not getting recognized in Windows 8 when trying to write it

I wanted to write some CDs from my Windows 8 and when I try to do that I get the error message as “There is no disc in the drive. Please insert a writable CD”. Why this error shows up? Can someone provide me the information which need to be followed for fixing this?

Re: CD not getting recognized in Windows 8 when trying to write it

This issue can come up if the Enable CD recording on this drive is not selected in your system. Now to fix this issue just follow the below mentioned steps,

STEP 1: Go to the charms bar -> Search -> CD/DVD Drive.

STEP 2: Right click on the drive -> Select Properties.

STEP 3: Go to Recording tab from the window -> Check if the “Enable CD Recording on this drive” checkbox is selected.

STEP 4: Also try to change the write speed drop down from Fastest to the next level.

STEP 5: Select OK to confirm the changes.

STEP 6: Now try to put in the CD in your drive which should get detected now without any problem.

You need to take few corrective steps in order to write from your DVD writer.

    1. check the data cable of your Optical Drive.
    2. insert a cleaning disk into optical drive and clean the read/write lense.
    3. change the DVD and use another blank DVD to try writing.
    4. open Charms Bar, search for DVD drive,Right click on the drive and select properties,Go to Recording and
select Enable CD Recording......., exit by confirming OK.

    Those should solve the problem.

Re: CD not getting recognized in Windows 8 when trying to write it

first thing i want to know is whether your CD/DVD drive is working or not ?

To test this, insert one media disk and try to play it.. if it is playing then your Drive is okay to read the content.

Now insert an empty DVD and wait for some time, till it shows that it is empty DVD and asks you to write something into it.
if this step is okay then your Drive is detecting DVD..

Follow same procedure for CD too.. if detects then CD is also working in your system.. if it fails try some other CD...if you still find the same problem then it is clear that Your Drive lens are not in good condition to detect CD..

To solve this problem, Insert one lends cleaning CD/DVD into your Drive and let it run for few mins...

Then uninstall the CD/DVD drives from device manager.. and restart your system.. when you restart your system, Drivers will be automatically downloaded..

now you can write into CD properly..

    happy to assist you

Re: CD not getting recognized in Windows 8 when trying to write it

    Hi aspirant,

    Causes:

Your CD is not a proper CD having its sectors equally divided.

    It is already burnt once.

You have not installed your CD drivers.

Your CD ROM is unable to read it.

    Solutions:

Try to check the CD ROM has its driver installed or not.

Make sure you have not burnt it before which makes it unable to burnt once again.

If you do not get the satisfactory result try your CD in any other computer.

If it works over there then you need to show this case to any nearby computer operator.

Re: CD not getting recognized in Windows 8 when trying to write it

    Dear friend,

You are facing this error because the CD you want to write is not writable. The CD may be scratched. Sometimes Local brand’s CD also does not work with the DVD-ROM drive. You should use branded CDs such as Moser Baer, Sony, etc. If you are using the drive for a long time period, then they may be dust accumulation on the lens the DVD writer. In this case you should Air blower and clean out the dust from the DVD-ROM drive. There may be hardware problem with the DVD-ROM drive; you can consult a computer hardware technician
You should also check the firmware version of your DVD-ROM drive whether it is compatible with Windows 8 or not. You can download latest firmware from manufacture’s website.

    Thanks!

    HELLO ,

Well there may be 2 things that may have went wrong..

1--Either your CD/DVD is corrupt or damaged.

2--The DVD ROM might have crashed

also check the inner Optical connections connecting to the DVD ROM it might have loosened

If none of this works take it to Customer Care for proper assessment of the fault...

You may also want to re-install the DVD-ROM driver which may have got corrupted and

    Check Again...
