We can consolidate hard drives if they are on the same physical drive, but Windows XP doesn't have a built-in tool that can do this. XP has diskpart.exe, that tool can't extend system or boot volumes -- and your C partition is both a system volume and a boot volume. such utilities are available. Here are a few options in alphabetical order: Acronis Disk Director Easeus Free Partition ManagerO&O Partition Manager

Re: Consolidating the hard drives in Windows XP in HP desktop?

    Hi

My friend has a C and a D local hard drives that he partitioned a while ago and now wants to consolidate it (remove partition) in Windows XP He has 60 GB capacity on C and 50 GB capacity on D.

We found a Computer Managment screen where we saw both C and D drives. When we right clicked on D we found a command that said
"delete partition" but when we did that it still kept the space allocated for the D in another volume separate from C.

Can can I truly consolidate both drives into one C drive that lists 110 GB total capacity? Do I need some separate utility proram?

    thank you
