Copying items on Windows XP becoming very slow.

Whenever I try to copy multiple files at the same time the system becomes very slow. Let me tell you that the files won’t be huge files. Songs or videos and the like. What is causing the system to become so slow? Is it virus that is affecting the system?

    • Select the General tab & click on Disk Cleanup.
    • Set the volume you want to reduce from your drive.
    • Wait for the time while it completes the process.

Also uninstall the unused programs from the control panel.

Follow these steps to perform clean boot-

    • Click on the Start button.
    • Type Run in the search box & click on the option appeared to open the Run window.
    • You may also open it by pressing Windows key+R button together.
    • Type msconfig in the edit field & press enter.
    • System configuration dialog box will appear-select the General tab.
    • Check the Selective startup option.
    • Uncheck the Load Startup Items checkbox.

    • Install the Anti virus on your company and scan the whole company.
    • You may purchase the quick heal antivirus,
    • It will detect the virus in any available and copying speed will increase instantly.
    • You also need to delete the programs or software which are useless.
    • Delete the files /software which are from untrusted supplier and which are already expired.
    • Install the software named teracopy and it will increase the speed of copying.

Re: Copying items on Windows XP becoming very slow.

    Hello friend,

I have the solution for your problem just do as i say..........

This may be the of the virus which affected your computer. So it is better
to install a good antivirus software like 'Kaspersky', 'Avg', 'Nod32' etc,........
Download any one of these software's from internet. You can down;load them
by going to the website 'www.filehippo.com'.

After downloading install in your computer and scan your computer for virus
if you find any virus try to clean or delete them.

If there is no problem with the virus then listen what i say....

As you are saying you are trying to copy multiple items maximum of your
system ram will be used for this process. So your system speed has been
reduced. So try to upgrade your ram speed by installing a new ram.

Or try to perform disk cleanup so your system may speed up as you can
    delete the unnecessary files.

I hope it will help you.

    Have a nice day...........

You have a couple of possible problems haunting your system.

    1. The eternal Virus infection problem.
    2. The mass diposition of files, programs, internet downloads, temporary file etc. which is eating a chunk of the memory space.

Install a good quality antivirus with complete version, trials have limited capabilities. Run the antivirus to scan and then clean the system to disinfect.

Run Disk Cleanup utility provided with every Windows, it will clean most of the junk files except temporary files.
Click Run type %temp% and press enter. From the following long list delete all temporary files present in your system.
This will create not only space but also let the system run without hassle.
Run Disk Defragmenter finally to arrange files and manage space to your Hard Disk.

Re: Copying items on Windows XP becoming very slow.

    Dear friend,

It is a very usual problem in Windows.

Just restart your PC and then again start copying it.

Your speed will definitely increase as compared to previous.

Even then if the problem is not solved, then there might be virus in your PC.

You must immediately remove it through a good antivirus.

Some of the good antivirus are: AVG, Avira, Avast, Quick Heal, etc.
