Re: Creating lock for files and folders

    1. Click “Start”, “Run,” and then type cmd. When the command prompt opens type “CD C:Test” (replace “Test” with the name of the folder you want to hide.)

    2. Now type “attrib file +s +h” and replace “file” with the name of the actual file name you would like to hide.

    3. Now, go back to C:Test and look for your file or folder, it’s not there! You cannot find it through simply browsing around, through the command prompt, or even if you click “Show Hidden Files and Folders”.

    4. To find the folder and it’s contents again simply go back to the command prompt, type “CD C:Test” (of course, again replacing “Test” with the name of the folder,) and then type “attrib filename -s -h”. You should now be able to find your file again!

When sending any sensitive data through e-mail, including PDF files, make sure to password protect or encrypt that information. Although this can be done in Adobe Acrobat, below are steps on how to create a password protected PDF that prompts for a password without having to purchase a program.

Download link for PrimoPDF :- http://download.cnet.com/PrimoPDF/30...=dl&tag=button

    1. Download and install PrimoPDF, a free PDF creator.
    2. Open the document or picture you wish to create password protected PDF for.
    3. Print the file. In the print wizard change the printer name from your printer to "PrimoPDF" and click Ok to start the PDF creation process.

    primopdf.jpg
    4. In PrimoPDF as shown in the below picture, select the quality of file, we suggest either "Print" or "Prepress" and then click the Change button for PDF Security.
    5. In the Password Security window check the box for "Require a password to open the document" and enter the password you wish to use and click Ok.
    6. Finally, click the Create PDF button to create the password protected PDF.

Re: Creating lock for files and folders

    Hi,
    Just do the following:
Download the following text file, which contains the code for the batch file:
    LockCode.txt
Open the file in Notepad. Replace “type your password here” in the LockCode.bat file with the password you want to use to lock and unlock the protected files and folders. DO NOT forget this password. Save the file as LockCode.bat.
    sed later.

You should now have two files: LockCode.txt and LockCode.bat. If you cannot tell which file is which because the file extensions are not displaying, select Folder Options from the Tools menu in either My Computer or Windows Explorer.

On the Folder Options dialog box, click the View tab, scroll down to the Hide extensions for known file types option and uncheck the check box.

Now you should be able to see the extensions for both files.
Double-click on the LockCode.bat file to create a new folder named Locker. The new folder is created in the same directory as the LockCode.bat file.
Place any files and other folders you want to protect into this Locker folder. Double-click the LockCode.bat shortcut on the desktop again to lock the Locker folder. You are asked if you are sure if you want to lock the folder. Type a Y if you are sure you want to lock the folder. The folder disappears.
To unlock the Locker folder again, double-click on the LockCode.bat file. You are asked to enter your password.
    The folder is available again.

To protect your password, you can also delete the LockCode.bat file and create it again from the original LockCode.txt file when you need to unlock your files.
NOTE: The LockCode.bat file MUST be in the same directory where the Locker folder was created originally for this method of locking files and folders to work
    Hope this helps.....

    Hi.
    Follow the below steps:

    >>Right click, on the desktop or in a folder, on the white or vacant space. Go to "new", a new menu should show up next to it. Go to "Compressed (zipped) folder". Give the file a name.

    >>Double-click the file, it will open up as a folder window

    >>

Drag any of the files you wish to protect into this window

    >>Right click in this window on the white or vacant space, Go to "Add a password..." The password can be whatever you want it to be, but keep it easy to remember, but hard for hackers to guess.

    >>Delete the private files that are anywhere else.

    Thank you.

Re: Creating lock for files and folders

Open the document, now paste the following code into the contents of the document:

cls @ECHO OFF title Folder Private if EXIST "HTG Locker" goto UNLOCK if NOT EXIST Private goto MDLOCKER :CONFIRM echo Are you sure you want to lock the folder(Y/N) set/p "cho=>" if %cho%==Y goto LOCK if %cho%==y goto LOCK if %cho%==n goto END if %cho%==N goto END echo Invalid choice. goto CONFIRM :LOCK ren Private "HTG Locker" attrib +h +s "HTG Locker" echo Folder locked goto End :UNLOCK echo Enter password to unlock folder set/p "pass=>" if NOT %pass%== PASSWORD_GOES_HERE goto FAIL attrib -h -s "HTG Locker" ren "HTG Locker" Private echo Folder Unlocked successfully goto End :FAIL echo Invalid password goto end :MDLOCKER md Private echo Private created successfully goto End :End
Change the PASSWORD_GOES_HERE text to the password you want to set. Now go ahead and save the file as locker.bat.

Once the file is saved as a batch file you can delete the original text file.

Now run your batch file by double clicking on it–the first time you run it, it will create a folder called Private. This is where you can store all your secret things. When you have finished adding all your stuff to the Private folder, run locker.bat again.

This time you will be asked if you sure that you want to lock the folder, press the “Y” key and hit enter to lock your folder.

You will see that your Private folder quickly disappears.
If you run the script yet again, you will prompted for a password.

If you enter the same password as you set in the script the Private folder will reappear if you enter the incorrect password the script will just Terminate.
