Deleting duplicate music files from Windows Media Center on Windows Vista

I used to keep music files on Windows Media Center in my PC running on Windows Vista. Now, I can find multiple duplicate music files in the music library of Windows Media Center. How can I delete them?

You should first of all reboot your PC and then click on the ‘Start’ button. Then, you should type services.msc in the search box and press the ‘Enter’ key. You should then locate ‘Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service’ from the services listed on the given window. If you find the status of ‘Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service’ as ‘Started’, then you should double-click on the service and click on the ‘Stop’ button. You should again click on Start button to view the search field. Then, you should type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft on that field and press the ‘Enter’ key. You can then view a folder from which you should locate Media Player folder. You should delete that folder by right clicking on it. Finally, you should start Windows Media Player and see whether you can find multiple duplicate music files or not.

below are the steps to delete dulicate files in window media center in windows vista:

    1. Reboot your PC.
    2. Go to Start, type services.msc in the Search field, and press Enter.
    3. In Services, find the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service. If its status is Started, double-click the service and click Stop.

    Hi,
You must be knowing the exact drive where such duplicate files are existing. You need to go to the Start Button and then go to the My Computer option.
In My Computer Option or Window you will get a search tab. When you click on the tab and you look on the left side, then you see that a left panel specified
for searching icons open up. Click on All files and folders. There mention the drive where your duplicate music files are existing. Also mention the exact extension for all those duplicate files. Now you will see all the original and the duplicate files coming under this search. When this happens you select only the duplicate files and delete them.
