Device Manager remains blank on Windows XP

Since two weeks, I found the Device Manager is blank on my laptop running on Windows XP. I have clicked plug and play and make certain that it is already set to Automatic. Is there any solution available for this problem?

Click the ‘Start’ button and select ‘Run’ option from the start menu. Type regedt32 into the field appears on the screen afterwards and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum from the registry window. Select ‘Enum’ and click on both ‘Security’ and ‘Permissions’ menu. You may find there are no permissions for this key at this moment. Press the ‘Add’ button and add ‘Everyone’ group and user ‘SYSTEM’. Click the check box next to ‘Read Only’ and ‘Full Control’ after selecting ‘Everyone’ and ‘SYSTEM’ respectively. Go to the bottom part of the window and press the ‘Advanced’ button. Select the checkbox next to ‘Reset permissions on all child objects’ label in advanced window and press the ‘OK’ button. Click on ‘Yes’ option appears on the warning window and quit the REGEDT32.

    Hey friend,

IF your device manager remains blank for short time its normal, because due to reading all your configuration it will takes time,
So wait for some time .

IF you still facing this problm means your device manager is not working properly, In this case Use your windows CD and Repair
    your windows.
Or Install a fresh copy because your previous files might get corrupted by the viruses.

If your device manager remain blank ,then it may be due mainly two problems

--> In your registry , your device manager file is corrupted.
--> Critical window service is disabled.

Fix the issue of device manager remain empty

--> Go to "start" and then "control panel"
--> now select "Administrative tools" and then "service"
--> now scroll down and select the "Plug and play service" and select the start up type "automatic"
--> now click on "start" tab shown at below.

now see that your device manager is blank or not.If still it is blank , then

--> Go to "start" and select "Run"
--> Enter the name "msconfg" in the run window.
--> new window will open.In that , select the tab "service".
    --> click on "enable all"
