Do I need to increase the RAM if upgrading windows 7 from 32-bit to 64-bit?

I am currently using windows 7 in my Laptop which has 2GB RAM and is working fine. Now I am going to upgrade it to 64-bit which is confusing me. I want to know whether it will decrease the performance if I install the 64-bit version of windows 7 with same configuration?

You do not need to RAM to upgrading the window 7 32 bit to 64-bit because the window 7 basic requirement of the RAM is 2 GB for 64-bit computer and 1 GB to 32-bit computer...

if you want to increase the RAM to work your computer is fine, so increase the RAM 2GB as you requirement else you increase the RAM Only 1GB...

Basically all the software are properly working on 2 GB....

    With Regards.

    HELLO GUEST

I think 2 GB Ram is just sufficient for running or upgrading Windows 7 of 64 Bit>
If you think that it will affect your PC performance then I tell you that, it is not like that.
It again works same as earlier it was Working in 32 Bit because I am also using 64 Bit with the Same Configuration and the biggest advantage for you is that you can also Upgrade to Windows 8 OS which is most compatible with this version.
You can upgrade Window 8 from Microsoft Official Website.

    Hope I help You

    Thanks Buddy,
    Regards LIBIN

    Hey Friend,
You Don't need to upgrade the RAM to change you WINOWS 7 for 32 bit to 64 bit because there is no such
change of RAM is required by the windows 7 64bit.

PROCESSOR is the one who defines the bit of the window not the ram.
64bit windows means that it is working on 64 bit data at a time , which means it is the quality of the processor not the RAM.
So basically windows 7 64 bit requires the 64bit processor so dont worry about the RAM.

Your 2gb ram is sufficient to support the Windows 7 64bit.

Re: Do I need to increase the RAM if upgrading windows 7 from 32-bit to 64-bit?

    Hi,

The fact of the matter is that you already have the requisit quantity of RAM installed in your system, infact you have some more than required.

But, the fact remains what kind of an user you are ? If you are a power user then bigger is better, you can add more RAM which will enable you to get a faster response from the enormous fast processors of todays.

So no problem with your current settings but if you want to be a power user add even more RAM to the system.

    Thanks.

    hi,

NO, you dont need to upgrade your RAM for 64 it OS.

yes, you can upgrade your 32 bit OS with 64 bit but for that you have to check some basic things.

    >> check your system is support this 64 bit or not .

    >> and for that no need to change any of your hardware just reinstall with 64 bit simply.

    >>> but 32 bit's software wont work with 64 bit so you have to work with limited software in 64 bit.

    >> and for 64 bit minimum hardware requirement is:

    1 gb ram

    320 gb and more harddisk.

and 64 bit supported board and processor.

    >> i hope you have got me all the best
