Sleeping mode of the laptop may not consume any battery and it do not shorten the battery life and also it is very better to run laptop in the sleep mode if it is not in use the battery life can be improved by using laptop in the sleep mode.

    Hello,

Laptop in sleep mode did not consume the current. It only takes some tiny current which could not effect your battery.

If you discontinue the current in your laptop in sleep mode you can see there is no battery charging in laptop after few minutes when you will give current to your Laptop.

    Wish you all the best,

    hi!!!!!!
friend your cause of worry in right and its high time you stop torturing your battery.
even in sleep mode the battery is consumed some what and if you keep it in bag keep it on sleep mode then its alarm bell time for battery life..
so if you dont want to shorten your battery life and want maximum output out of it,do ensue you shut down your laptop before you put in your bag..

Friend, do not worry. Whenever, you turn your laptop to sleep mode, it does not Consume power. Actually it consumes power which is very little in quantity. So, it is the amount which ha no value.

But, as you said you will be keeping it for a long time. It is not so good. Keeping it in sleep mode for 8 to 10 Hours is better but for more than that time, it would be a problem.

yes, laptops consume some amount of current even in the sleep mode.
laptops which run on battery, will have a longer battery life if they are turned off when not in use. its better to turn of the laptop rather than keeping in the sleep mode..

    SLEEP Mode AND HIBERNATE Mode

You must have seen sleep mode and hibernate mode.
When computer is in sleep mode, all the data in physical is kept in internal memory, and all other operations are switched off.
But power is still needed for RAM to keep data still. However, power consumed is very less as compared to normal mode.

While in hibernate mode, data in RAM is first copied to HDD, so if you have 4GB memory of RAM, then you must have this much free
size in HDD also. As you HDD data dont need any power to sustain data. So, no power is needed in case of hibernate.

Only disadvantage is, when you start PC from sleep or hibernate, data loading will be faster in case of sleep as in other case data is first
    copied from HDD to RAM.

It is good to put laptop in sleep mode, when not in use. But still it consumes little amount of current from the battery.
I would recommend you to put it in Hibernate Mode. By this, it will capture your working session and will be fully turn off. Next moment, when you will open it, the same session will be in front of you.

Re: Does laptop in sleep mode consume any current or can it shortened my battery back up?

Your laptop consumes a small amount of power when you put in sleep mode.
If you are not going to use it for days then it is advisable to put it on hibernate mode or to shut down.
Hibernate is the best mode when you are not going to use it for weeks or months.
If you put in sleep mode, it uses only minor current but if kept for months then your battery power will be down and your laptop goes to off state.

    dear friend,

Laptop in sleep mode consumes a little amount of power.

It is for keeping on the LED & the processor.

The amount of consumed power is too much low.

But It is not to keep the laptop in sleep mode throughput a long time.

It reduces the charge capacity of your battery.

    HI,

If you are using Microsoft operating systems (the only ones I am remotely familiar with) seems to me there are certain operations that only take place when you do a complete shutdown.

Then, you could have evolving memory issues that cause poor performance and here again a shutdown and rebuilding of the memory might be beneficial.

According to me i recommend a shutdown every couple of days.

Otherwise Just put it in hibernantion mode and you will be fine why wouuld anyone store it in sleep mode. Use hiberation mode it will shut down and save your current session to hard drive then it will restore as soon as you power on.

    ::::::::::::::::::GOOD LUCK::::::::::::::::::::::::::

    HI..
you should worry about this problem... in sleep mode Laptop uses very very less current ...and it does not effect your battery backup...So, you don't worry about this..
But it is recommended to shut down your Laptop...for safety purpose only...
    Thanks

Yes of course sleeping mode consumes battery power and if left for a prolonged period it will speak on your battery life

sleep mode is nothing but a power consuming state of windows where display and hard dsk are turn off to save battery power
while facilitate quick resume of the windows

Sleep mode is a state of the pc where monitor and hard disk drives are turned off thus system continues to run
consuming low power. This mode is facilitated for cases like if you are working on your pc and suddenly a postman
comes to your door.If you turn off your pc and after returning turn on it back this will consumes a lot of time plus
your setting and non saved data would be lost instead you just put system in the sleeps mode and on returning
not only your system will start faster but it will also retain your non saved data
