    Download speed get reduced on Windows XP after quitting standby mode

    For the past few weeks, I can see change in the download speed after coming out of the standby mode set up on my PC running on Windows XP. The speed reduces to 5Mb/s from 14Mb/s. How can I prevent this?

    At first, click the ‘Start’ button and wait until the start menu pop up on the screen. Then, go through that menu and click the ‘Run’ option. Once the ‘Run’ dialog box become visible on the screen, type devmgmt.msc into ‘Open’ field available inside the box. Hit the ‘Enter’ key afterwards so that ‘Device Manager’ window will pop up on the screen. Locate ‘Network Adapters’ item available in that window and expand it. By the time you can find your network adapter, right click on it and click the ‘Properties’ option from the context menu. This will show up the ‘Properties’ window from which press the ‘Power Management’ tab. You can then find ‘Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power’ label on the window along with a checkbox. Clear off that checkbox by clicking on it and press the ‘OK’ button available.

    ================================================== =========

    Hi,

    See,in the stand by mode,the RAM is not being used to interact with the hardware too much because keyboard,monitor,mouse and other such hardware go to sleep and become inactive.
    Hence the RAM is free to devote itself entirely in making sure that the downloading speed is maintained.
    But as soon as you turn on the machine from the stand by mode,the RAM then requires to interact with monitor,keyboard and other such hardware.
    Hence now the memory that was earlier devoted to the only maintaining the speed is now being used to interact with other hardware devices.
    Hence a fall in the speed in bound to happen.
    But there is nothing to worry about.
    After few minutes,the internet speed will pick up on its own!

    Bye!
