Dual boot screen issues with Windows 7 desktop system

I tried installing a 32 bit version of Windows 7 on my desktop. But it stopped in between due to some errors. I now installed a 64 bit OS but now I have an issue like dual boot screen both showing Windows 7, but only one of them is original. How to sort out this?

Hello my friend If you have installed both the OS then due to high priority of 64 bit OS,it will come first i.e before the old OS. When you log in the 64 bit OS,you will find the folder named windows.old, which contains 32 bit OS files. delete window.old folder, after deleting this you won't get dual boot screen issues. All the best.

    • The older OS wont recognize the newer one.
    • The newer one can recognize the older.
    • So you need to run some sort of BCD repair.

    dear friend,

If you want to delete the 32 bit version of OS then you need to reboot your machine properly using a bootable CD/DVD.

You can delete 32 bit version manually.

    For that-

    Open the 64 bit version.

Now go to the c drive & click on the program files of 32 bit version.

Make it Shift+Delete from your computer.

Restart your machine & you'll not see further the dual boot menu.

You may also download EasyBCD software from http://neosmart.net/EasyBCD/ & delete the 32 bit version using the software.

Hope this will help you a lot.

Re: Dual boot screen issues with Windows 7 desktop system

    Hello,

Friend it seems that the previous 32 bit OS is making your computer seemed to be dual boot.
So as you said currently no version of the OS id working on your system.
You should format your computer immediately and completely.
You can d this by using any OS disk.
Just boot the system in the usual way and instead of installing any OS just format your system completely.
Once formatted you can easily install the OS again.
Now once you have installed the OS you can than dual boot it.
For dual booting the procedure is same as of single boot but the only difference is that the storage location for the 2nd OS should be different.
