Every time I try to insert CD or DVD into my PC running on Windows Vista, I get the error message “E:/Application not found”. Is there any solution available for this problem?

Re: DVD RW Drive not working properly with Windows Vista

You can resolve this issue by modifying the system registry in windows. For that, first click on the ‘Start’ button and press the ‘Enter’ key after typing regedit into the search box. By the time you get into the registry editor, go to the left side bar. Then, navigate into the location, HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/MicrosoftWindows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/MountPoints2 by clicking the ‘+’ sign. Remove or delete the MountPoints2 key from that location completely. Close the ‘Registry Editor and choose either ‘Log off’ or ‘Restart’ option. When you can get into the desktop, insert a CD or DVD again to check for the issue.

Re: DVD RW Drive not working properly with Windows Vista

    Hi,
The problem that is creating havoc might have happend owing to multiple reasons.
To remove the problem you nedd to try things as i`ll tell you.
Check the drive for its integrity, if manufacturing defects are there replace it.

Check cables and connectors attached to the optical drive for their continuity and health.

Check the optical drive lense wheather its clean and allignment is right or not.

Check for the current driver software , windows or any third party manufactured, if that is installed or not.
Finally edit registry if you are qualified enough, else the whole windows may turn into a junk.
Write regedit from the command prompt, then search for HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/MicrosoftWindows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/MountPoints2 by clicking the ‘+’ sign. Remove the MountPoints2 key from that location completely. Close Registry Editor and exit, reboot.

    Try them.

Now you are using the windows vista and in that you are trying to insert CD or DVD , but it showing the error message “E:/Application not found” and then you don't worry i am providing the instructions for solving this issue.

    • Turn on your windows vista,
    • Then click on start button,
    • Then launch run window,
    • In that type regedit,
    • After that click on search button,

Doing this it opens registry editor window and in that locate HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/MicrosoftWindows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/MountPoints2 and then you need to find and click on remove or delete button. After that you need to close registry editor and restart you windows once and then now try to insert CD or DVD.
