Here are easy steps to repair this error

    1. Insert and boot from your Windows XP CD.
    2. At the first R=Repair option, press the R key
    3. Press the number that corresponds to the correct location for the installation of Windows you want to repair.
    Typically this will be #1
    4. Enter in the administrator password when requested
    5. cd \windows\system32\config
    6. Depending on which section was corrupted:
ren software software.bad or ren system system.bad
    7. Depending on which section was corrupted
    copy \windows\repair\system
    copy \windows\repair\software
    8. Take out the CD ROM and type exit

If that doesn't work or you can't get into the repair console then With the XP disk you choose to install Windows XP and when you choose to install over the current XP installation you will be given the option to repair the current Windows installation and you won't lose all of your data.

The Windows that you use contains vital information which are stored and accessed by the windows in order to run the Operating System seamlessly. in case of any system related file missing or damage the windows will not find or access the vital data and will stop functioning, what is happening to your system.

You must have the Windows Installer Diskette for Windows XP with you,
Insert it in optical drive and boot from it.
    Afterwords select Install now option,
Next select Repair Install option and follow the guidence of the software to let it self heal.
Once finished, remove the disk from the drive and boot normally from the C: drive.

Error: "\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM Missing. Windows can't start." on Windows XP System; do not worry.

Possibily cause is incomplete installation of windows XP OS.

You need to reinstall windows XP.

Use original version of windows XP.

The CD you use to install XP should not have any scracth on it.

    It should be easily readable.

Follow correct steps of XP installation.

If you install XP properly you will not get above error message.

Hey its means your windows is corrupt .
This happens when your system turns off unnecessarily due to power failure .
Or it can be due to a virus.
    So reinstall windows again .
And run a virus scan and scan for malwares. You can use Guardian or avg to scan your computer .
