First of all, you should Verify permissions on the folder structure by Microsoft Update client for you, follow the procedure:

    > Click on start and select Run
    > Type explorer and hit Ok
    > Expand My computer and then System Drive
    > Go to WINDOWS section
    > Now, right click on SoftwareDistribution and then properties
    > Click on the Security tab under SoftwareDistribution Properties window
    > Verify that you are in the Group or user names list
    > In the list, select Everyone
    > Check Full Control check box under Allow section

Check the issue, it should be resolved now.

    Hi.
You may get this problem If you don’t have the latest Windows service pack.
If you already have the latest Windows service pack
    Turn on Automatic Update
    >>Exit all the programs that you have running.
    >>Click Start, click Run, type sysdm.cpl, and then click OK.
    >>On the Automatic Updates tab, click Automatic (Recommended), and then click OK.
    >>Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.
    >>Type wuauclt /detectnow, and then press Enter.
After you turn on Automatic Updates, wait an hour, and then scan for updates again.

    Thank you.
