Re: Facing problem with error 0xC004F061 when upgrading Windows 7

If you are getting error 0xC004F061, it means that you are trying for the upgrade version of windows 7 without its previous version. I mean that when you installed Windows 7 in your computer for the first time, it does not have the previous version. So, to overcome the error, you should install the previous version of Windows and go for installing with the upgrade version of Windows 7. If you format the drive before starting the installation, you cannot go for upgrade version of windows 7. So, you restart the computer using windows 7 upgrade DVD. Your Problem will be Solved.

    Dear

If you receive an error indicating that your product key (Error 0xC004F061) is not valid when installing Windows 7, it could be for the following reasons:
    • You might have mistyped your product key. Try retyping it.
    • You might be using a product key that doesn't match the version of Windows 7 that's installed on your computer. Check the product key to make sure it is for the version that you are trying to activate. You can't use a product key for Windows 7 with Service Pack 1 (SP1) to activate a copy of Windows 7 without SP1.
    • The product key is for an upgrade version of Windows 7 and a previous version of Windows wasn't on your computer when Windows 7 was installed. To install an upgrade version of Windows 7, Windows Vista or Windows XP must be installed on your computer. If you formatted the drive before starting the installation process, you won't be able to use the upgrade product key to activate Windows 7. To activate Windows 7, you'll need to install your previous version of Windows, and then reinstall Windows 7. For help with the activation process, go to the Microsoft Support website.

    Dear Friend,

You are getting the error 0xC004F061,
It means that you are trying to upgrade the windows 7 without its previous version available.
Actually what happens is that the versions are in the form of one by one piling,
It means (for eg.)that when you want to move from 1st version to 3rd version then their is a requirement that you should have first been upgraded to 2nd version, then only you can move to the 3rd version.
So don't format your system now and first of all upgrade to the previous version of the version you want.
It will definately solve your problem.

If not solved kindly inform again.

Re: Facing problem with error 0xC004F061 when upgrading Windows 7

you are facing the problem due to error 0*C004f061 while installing windows 7.It means that you are not able to install the windows 7 correctly and face the problem while installing in windows 7.
If you want to ugrade the windows 7 , then you must have previous version installed in your PC.Previous version may be window Xp or window vista.without the previous version, you can not install the windows 7 and you will face the same error problem.
If you are formating the drive and then start to install the windows 7 directly , you will also face the same problem.so don't format and install direct windows 7.

If you have both the above things ok while installing the windows 7 and facing the problem ,then check your windows 7 licence product key.It should correct or not.
If still facing the same problem ,then you should take the technical help of windows support team.

Re: Facing problem with error 0xC004F061 when upgrading Windows 7

    Hello Friend,
I can suggest you to follow one of the step and solve your problem:

    (1) Re-install the previous operation system and then run the install from within the old operating system.
    (2) Re-install the previous operating system and then start the computer with the Upgrade DVD and select the Custom (advanced) -> Drive options (advanced) option to perform additional tasks, such as formatting the hard drive or installing to another hard drive.
    (3) Proceed with the current installation without entering a product key.
