    • Click on ‘start’ and type ‘Control Panel’ in search box and click on ‘Control Panel’
    • In ‘Recording’, select the concerned device and click on ‘Properties’
    • Then go to ‘Device usage’ and select ‘Use this device (enable)’ and tap on ‘ok’
    • Click on ‘start’ and type ‘movie maker’ and click on ‘Windows Live Movie Maker’
    • Click on movie maker button followed by ‘Options’
    • Then select ‘Webcam’ from the left pane
    • Check and see ‘Available audio device’ is enabled to the concerned device

    Dear Friend,

    This is a common error found in Windows Movie Maker.

    But, solution to this problem is very easy and you can do it simply.


    To get your problem solved follow the steps given below :

    1) Click on Start button, in Start menu select Control Panel.

    2) In Control Panel click on Sound/Hardware and Sound.

    3) Then, click on Sounds.

    4) In Sound option which appear, click on - Recordings tab.

    5) From there select your device, and click on properties.

    6) In properties, select Use this device(enable) and click OK.

    7) Now, go to Windows Movie Maker and check that device you selected in Control Panel is right and is working.

    Follow these steps:

    1.Click START>CONTROL PANEL and in the list of results Click CONTROL PANEL and then click SOUND.

    2.On the Recording tab, click the recording device that you’d like to use, and then click Properties.

    3.Go to Device usage, select Use this device (enable), and click OK.

    4.Open Windows Live Movie Maker by clicking the Start button .

    5.In the search box, type Movie Maker, and then, in the list of results, click Windows Live Movie Maker.

    6.Click the Movie Maker button, and then click Options. In the left pane, select Webcam,

    7.And then check to see that Available audio device is set to the device you enabled in the Control Panel in Step 2.

    9. Now go to Start again and then to search box
    10. Type “Movie maker”
