    Getting an error message while Installing Programs in Windows Vista Home Premium

    I have windows vista Home Premium installed in my computer. When I tried to install programs in my computer, it displays an error “Windows Installer Service could not be accessed”. What is the solution of this problem.

    “Windows Installer Service could not be accessed”
    Generally occurs due to any of the following reasons:
    1. The Windows Installer Service is not running.
    2. The Windows Installer registry settings may be corrupted or set incorrectly.
    3. You are updating a program which needs it previous versions be deleted before updation.
    You can get rid of this problem by the following steps
    • Click windows start and CMD in the serach box.
    • Right-click cmd.exeand choose Run as Administrator.(to open an administration level command prompt).
    • In the command prompt type net start MSIServer and then press Enter.

    • Following windows will appear:

    • Windows installer service has been restarted ,
    • Restart the installation of your program.


    ////If this method does not work////
    Uninstall the previous version of the program ,
    then install the updated version of the program.

    When you try to install the microsoft program such as MS office,MS encarta,or microsoft Plus you get this error.This problem may occur if the Windows Installer files are damaged or missing.To resolve the problem:->

    1.Click Start, and then click Run
    2.In the Open box, type msconfig, and then click OK.
    3.On the Services tab, click to select the check box that is next to Windows Installer .
    4.Click OK, and then click Restart to restart the computer.
    5.Install Office again. When you are prompted to enter the product key, type the product key, and then click Next.

    hi there,

    It would be better if you also post the error code.

    "windows installer Service could not be accessed" can be sometimes avoided by :

    > running the application as Run as Administrator (done by right click at the installer file)

    > if this doesn't works, you can try to restore your system to an earlier time :

    Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore

    If you have this error then follow these steps,


    • This occur if windows installer is not properly installed.
    • Tap on Start->All programs->Accessories.
    • Right-click on Command Prompt and select Run as admin.
    • Now type net stop msiserver at the command prompt and press Enter.
    • Now launch Window Update and then you can install failed updates.

    dear friend,

    Follow these steps to fix the issue-
    If windows installer wasn't installed properly you may face this error.
    Follow these steps to get a solution-
    Click on the Start button.
    Type Run in the search box.
    Click on the Run icon & the Run window will appear.
    Type in the edit box & press enter.
    Select the Services tab.
    Put a tick on the check box next to Windows installer & press OK.
    Restart your computer.
    Now install the program you want with a valid registration key.

    Hope this will help you a lot.

    Hello,

    "windows installer Service could not be accessed" can be sometimes avoided by :

    --> running the application as Run as Administrator (done by right click at the installer file)

    --> if this doesn't works, you can try to restore your system to an earlier time :

    -->Start
    -->All Programs
    -->Accessories
    -->System Tools
    -->System Restore

    If it doesnt work than try doing this:

    1.Click Start, and then click Run
    2.In the Open box, type msconfig, and then click OK.
    3.On the Services tab, click to select the check box that is next to Windows Installer .
    4.Click OK, and then click Restart to restart the computer.
    5.Install Office again. When you are prompted to enter the product key, type the product key, and then click Next.
