Getting error report “ehtray.exe not restored to original” on Windows XP

When I check the system event log on my PC running on Windows XP, I found an entry reporting “The protected system file ehtray.exe was not restored to its original”. I used to get the error message “windows must restore original version of files to maintain stability” twice in a day. Is there any way available to resolve this issue?

The ehtray.exe is the tray bar process for Microsoft media center application which can provide easy access to digital media manager. You can disable it and resolve this issue. Press the ‘Start’ button for that and click the ‘Run’ option. Then, type msconfig into the ‘Open’ field and hit the ‘Enter’ key. Once you can view ‘System Configuration Utility’ window, locate ‘startup’ tab from it. By the time you can find the tab, make a single click on it. You can then find the media center process among the list appears on the window. Clear off the checkbox next to this process by clicking on it. Press the ‘Apply’ button afterwards and restart the PC while prompted.
