Getting horizontal lines in the screen after upgrading my Dell laptop from Vista to Windows 7

I had Windows Vista OS in my Dell Studio laptop and I needed to upgrade to Windows 7, so I installed it and now I am facing problem with the screen. It just shows horizontal lines in the screen. Can you tell me why this is happening? How to fix this problem? It was working properly in Windows Vista but why I have to get his problem when I install Windows 7? Is it not supported or so?

    Hi,

It is indeed a problem to have visual disturbance, and reasons can be various.

Try to install afresh Display Driver software downloading from Microsoft website. If failed,

The installation of Windows7 should be done again and from an original Windows installer CD, which contains all files required which pirated copies often dont have.

If after the windows7 reinstallation problem persists, chech the monitor of your laptop for its status.

    Thank you.

    Dear,

Horizontal lines on the screen are caused due to the hardware issues (mainly due to ribbon wire connecting the laptop to the screen), not due to up gradation from Vista to Windows 7. As a possible home solution, you can de-gauss the old laptop display. It removes the electronic and magnetic charges created from the activities inside them. Most of the laptops are set to degauss automatically, but you can also give a manual try.

Also, check that there is no strong magnetic field source near the laptop screen such as sound woofers, any permanent magnet, electric fan, etc.

If the problem does not solve, you should go to the Dell service centre to get it repaired.

    Thanks!

    Hi, Dear friend

To get the solution for this .......follow the below guidelines

Usually Most of the Times the above issues will be generated in the Copied ( not genuine) versions only

However, we can solve this by going with some manual procedure ... that is ...

First of all go to device Manager and expand DISPLAY ADAPTERS and right click on Graphic Device ...and choose UPDATE DRIVER SOFTWARE option

Next click SEARCH AUTOMATICALLY FOR UPDATED SOFTWARE option ....and follow the screen instructions

And if you are unable to ... solve with the above lines..... manually download the WINDOWS 7 Display drivers from the internet and install them to check if it helps

and again if the persists...too... simply insert the WINDOWS 7 DVD in to the ROM and RESTART THE PC

then press Delete key at the start up and choose BOOT MENU and select the Boot option

after that after that press F10 key to save the settings ... and then select OK option

after that the PC restarts automatically ... and the press ENTER key to Boot From DVD

and after selecting the language layout options click on REPAIR YOUR COMPUTER option that is
    windows-7-repair.jpg

and then follow the onscreen instructions to complete the process

after that your problem will be resolved

    THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hello friend,

I have the solution for your problem just do as i say.......................

1.Insert the motherboard Cd in your system.

2.And now you install the drivers in your system.

3.If still you have the problem then this can be the problem of the Windows 7 OS.

4.So you try to re-install it this may fix your problem.

5.This will happen because of the Display drivers only.

    Have a nice day............................

    Hi,

Well, this problem may be due to unsuccessful installation of display drivers or else your Screen problem.

First of all, Reinstall the display drivers again properly.

    After Installation, restart the system.

Check out weather the problem still continues or not.

If still the problem exists, it may be the screen problem.

Consult near by DELL Service center and Change the screen.
