If you are getting Windows Update error 80072f8f then it means that your computer's date and time is not same as the date and time of Online Windows Update service. Normally,it prevents you from checking for updates. To fix this issue, simply change your computer's date and time.To do the same, Click on Start Button>>Control Panel>>Clock, Language, and Region>>Date and Time. On the same tab(Date and Time), make sure that your computer's date and time are correct. If they are not same, change them. It can ask for the administrator password. If it does so then don't hesitate to provide the password. Once done, click on "Ok" to apply the changes. If your time zone observes daylight saving time and you want it to make the adjustment automatically then on "Date and Time" tab, click "Change Time Zone" and check the box which shows "Automatically adjust clock for Daylight Saving Time".
