Re: How to assign DVD drive as my 1st boot device?

To make your DVD as your first boot device, you will have to make changes in BIOS setting. When your computer starts, keep pressing F2 and Del key together. Normally, this message does last too long. If you are able to see any message regarding the shortcut key of Setup then press it immediately. After entering into the BIOS, go to the boot section and set CD/DVD as the first boot device. In other words, set it on first place. To save the settings, click on "F10" and enjoy. Now whenever you will insert any bootable CD/DVD and start your computer,it will boot from that DVD.

Re: How to assign DVD drive as my 1st boot device?

The boot device and drive is by default set to C: \ by the manufacturers all around.

The Optical Drive is the other drive depending upon the number of partitions used by the user and each partition has a different drive assigned.

To change a boot drive, you need to enter the BIOS the Basic Input Output Section, of your computer.Depending on the manufactuters the entry key might be different, DEL, ESC, F2 etc.
On a standard note, at the very beginning of the booting process press and hold F2,
BIOS settings will be displayed, enter the settings and set the booting device from C: to your Optical drive letter,
Press F10 to save and Exit.
Booting henceforth will be from your windows DVD in optical drive.
