Hi, i am unable to open control panel on my windows XP. When clicking on icon then PC will be freezed and i have to shut down it and then restarting will be last option. How to avoid this error permanently? Need help on this matter!!

It could be caused by a corrupted third-party entry, try this:
Create a folder, say, TempCPL in My Documents. Using Windows Explorer,
navigate to \Windows\System32 and display the files as Details. Click View > Arrange by Type and look for files with .cpl as the extension.
You may have to Show Extensions in Folder Options > View Tab to see them.
Check from their Properties which are not Microsoft.
Move the non-Microsoft .cpl files one by one to the new folder and open Control Panel after each move to see if the problem has gone.
