To set Windows Media Player 11 as your default digital media player
    • Open Control Panel.
    • Under Pick a category, click Add or Remove Programs.
    • In the Add or Remove Programs window, click Add or Remove Programs.

    • In the Add or Remove Programs dialog box, click Set Program Access and Defaults.

    • In the Choose a configuration box, double-click Custom.

    • In the Choose a default media player area, click Windows Media Player, and then click OK.
You also have the option of setting Windows Media Player as the default digital media player for one or more specific file types rather than for all audio and video file types that the Player supports.

To run all the video extension files in the windows media player then you should first convert all the extended files in to the .mp4 format with the avi converter software and also then you can play all the files on the windows media player.

As windows media player does not support that extension then there is no way
to play it on that. You should play that in any other media player. Windows media
player does not support many extension. It also does not support You tube video
    format.
You should do following thing tp play that video:-
    1. Write click on the video
    2. Go to the property
    3. See there the extension

    4. Then download any other media player that support that extension
and then play it in that.

    Hello,
If you want to run all the video extensions in windows media player then you can do it by the following 2 ways.
    A
    1]Open Control panel
    2]Click add or remove program
3]Click set program access in add or remove program.
4]Double click on Custom in the chose program.
5]Select default media player as"Windows media player"

    B
The second method is to right click on the file which you want to play on media player.
    Select open with
    Media player default.jpg
Then select windows media player and tick on "Always open with"
    Media player default 2.jpg
By this the media file will always open with media player.

    C
If none of this is helping you out then uninstall the media player.
    Re-install it .
While installing the application you will be asked to make it your default player or not.
There you can chose the option of making it your default media player.

    Regards
    -Abhishek

Friend, in order to play all the videos in the Windows Media Player, file should be of .mp4. Files which are not of this extension should be converted. This can be done by using some Software as avi converter.

You should use Video Converter for this Click HERE.

Download it and Install it. Run it and change any video extension to the format which is supported by the Windows Media Player.

    I think
first you should convert all video files of dvd in mp4 by any video converter.
    follow this way
go to control panel >(choose large and small icon)Autoplay>(there is a list option ) DVD movies>choose "Media player as a default player".
    Than click "Save"

    Hi,
windows media player doesn`t support all types of file format, although many extra codecs are available, but still you cannot play all video formats.
If you want it that badly then you will have to convert your video in to .mp4 format using any video converter,i would suggest "totalvideoconverter"
from effectmatrix.com.it also comes with total video player, which will play almost all video files of all extension.
