Friend, follow these Steps to change the Default folder from "My Documents" to another Folder in Windows XP:

STEP 1: Click on "Start" Button> Accessories> All Programs and Right Click on "Windows Explorer" and Select "Properties".

    start1.jpg

STEP 2: Click on "Short Cut" tab.

    shortcuttab.jpg

    Default Target will be,

    %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe

    Change the Target to
    %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /n, /e, <New Path>

Here, <New Path> is the Full Path of the Folder which you want to make it as the Default Foldre.

For Example, to make c:\folder as default,

    The Target Path should be
    %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /n, /e, C:\changed.jpg

Click "OK". Your Default Folder has been changed from "My Documents"

I can help you in changing the default saving place of the downloaded files through browsers .

I will show you the steps of it by taking the example of Mozilla Firefox , the steps it includes are :

    1) Open Firefox and click on the top of the web browser Attachment 9090 and click on the combo option " Options " followed by again " Options " .
    2) A new window would emerge and in that click on the tab " General " .
    3) After that there would be an option link " Downloads " adjacent to which there would be the option provided to change the default download destination .
    4) Click on the button " Browse " and select the drive and folder where you want all downloads to get saved after that click on " OK ".
    5) followed by clicking on another " OK " to confirm the new destination .

In this way you would be able to change the destination folder of the downloaded files in your browser to newer location .
