In your windows 7 computer, open Power options. You can do this by navigating to Start Button>>Control Panel>>System and Security>>Power Options>>Change Plan settings. On this page, choose the display and sleep settings when your computer is using battery. If you want to use more options then click "Change Advanced Power Settings" and make changes according to your need.Once done, click on "Ok".

The procedure to change POWER SETTINGS in Windows 7, is fairly simple and can be done in a jiffy.

    Go to : START--CONTROL PANEL--SYSTEM AND SETTINGS--POWER OPTIONS-here you can set
which power optionsyou wish to employ for your system.
there is option in this section to adjust sleep/hibernation time , use that to your choice and requirment.
if you have a laptop, there should be buttons to adjust brighness, you can do it from a number of places, also monitors have buttons to adjust brightness and contrust externally, and from taskbar icon it can also be set.

Re: How to change the Power Settings in windows 7?

    Hi.
You can adjust how long your computer waits before sleeping or hibernating—or prevent it from turning itself off altogether. But be careful. On a battery powered laptop, inhibiting sleep or hibernation can result in data loss if the battery dies. Here's how to prevent your computer from entering a power-saving state:
    >>Open Power Options by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Security, and then clicking Power Options.
    >>On the Select a power plan page, click Change plan settings next to the selected plan.
    >>On the Change settings for the plan page, click Change advanced power settings.
    >>On the Advanced settings tab, double-click Sleep, double-click Sleep after, and then do one of the following:
    >If you're using a laptop, click On battery or Plugged in (or both), click the arrow, and then click Never.
    >If you're using a desktop computer, click Setting, click the arrow, and then click Never.
    >Double-click Hibernate after, and then do one of the following:
    >If you're using a laptop, click On battery or Plugged in (or both), click the arrow, and then click Never.
    >If you're using a desktop computer, click Setting, click the arrow, and then click Never. If you also want the display to stay turned on, double-click Display, double-click Turn off display after, and then do one of the following:
    >If you're using a laptop, click On battery or Plugged in (or both), click the arrow, and then click Never.
    >If you're using a desktop computer, click Setting, click the arrow, and then click Never.
    >Click OK, and then click Save changes.

    Thank you.
