Yes, Dual boot of Windows 7 and Windows 8 is possible in the same system, Step to follow to dual boot Windows 7 and 8 by side is as follows,

STEP 1: Create a new partition for Windows 8 in your machine when you are inside Windows 7 and format the drive or if you have a drive which is already empty then you can carry on with Step 3, if you don’t know how to do new partition then follow Step 2.

STEP 2: Go to Start-> Computer -> Right Click -> Manage -> Select Disk Management -> In the left window select the partition which you want to separate ( 20 GB will be minimum requirement for Windows 8 ) -> Right Click -> Shrink Volume -> Shrink down so that you will get some 20 GB Unallocated space at the end -> Right Click on the unallocated space -> and select New Partition and follow the steps.

STEP 3: Now download the required Windows 8 Developer preview ISO from Microsoft CLICK HERE!!

STEP 4: Now after downloading the ISO file burn it down in the DVD using Power ISO or other Disk burning softwares CLICK HERE!! to download Power ISO.

STEP 5: Now insert the disk and go for a restart, make sure the your computer is set to Boot from CD option from the Boot Options which can be configured when you start the machine by pressing either F2 or F6 depending upon your laptop or PC. Restart the machine and check for the prompt “ Press any key to boot from DVD/CD” and press any key without fail then it goes for extracting the files automatically. Just wait for 5-15 mins.

Note: If you don’t get the prompt message then probably the Boot Options is still not changed to Boot from CD/DVD option.

STEP 6: Now you will get the steps to install where it will prompt you to select the partition where you want to install Windows 8 -> Select the drive which you formatted and kept empty for Windows 8 -> Select Fresh installation in the prompt where it asks for Fresh installation or Upgrade.

STEP 7: Wait for some more mins, your system will get restarted and there you are with two OS running in the same system where it asks for you to select Windows Developer preview or Windows 7.

STEP 8: By default Windows Developer preview goes as the default boot if you want to change it select “Change Defaults or Choose Other Options” from the boot selection screen and select Windows 7 as the default.

Windows 8 has inbuilt support for Virtualization. It is a piece of software or application that lets you run another Operating system inside of a window.
Software such as VMWare Workstation, Windows Virtual PC, QEMU let you run any number of OS inside of a window while you can have another OS running on your main machine.

In Windows 8 you can use the inbuilt platform to do so. You just need to install open up the application, insert the installation CD your actual CD drive and just follow the same procedure as you do normally and you can have another version of windows or any Linux version running on your virtual platform.
The main advantage of using Virtualization over dual boot is that you don't have to reboot your computer again and again whenever you have to switch to another OS. Also you can go for the dual boot option if you'd like. But I personally recommend you go for Virtualization ; it is very user friendly.

    Hello,
You can dual boot your computer with windows 7 and windows 8.
First download the windows 8 OS from the given link
    http://downloads.phpnuke.org/en/download-item-view-y-y-l-a-a-l/WINDOWS%2B8%2BPROFESSIONAL%2BEDITION.htm

    Then open the ISO image.
Mount it and run the .exe file.
You will have to take one precaution.
That is that when you are installing the windows 8 in your computer see to it that you are not doin it on the same drive where you have installed your windows 8.
Once you have installed windows 8.
Restart your computer and you will see that your computer now ask you which OS you want to use.

    Disadvantages
    Lot of memory being used.
    Slow start up process.

    Regards
    -Abhishek

Windows 7 and 8 can be installed in a single computer
provided you have two disc partitions.
If you have two partitions then install windows 8 in the other disc than the windows 7.
If you install both in the same disc then your old data will be moved to old.windows folder in that disc.
Download the windows 8 from www.microsoft.com

    Hi,
You can dual boot the system by installing windows 8 in another drive.
At the time of installation, choose the drive which is other than that of windows 7.
And the installation will be automatically dual boot.

At the time of boooting the system, you will be asked to choose the os to boot.

    Thank You.
