As default File extensions should be visible in Windows 7 if not there might be a setting change which was done before, now to enable the extensions for various files you just have to follow some simple steps as given below,

STEP 1: Go to Folder options in Windows Control Panel or in any of the Window select Organize-> Folder and Search Options.
STEP 2: Go to the View tab in Folder Options dialog box -> Search for “Hide extensions for known file types” and make sure that checkbox is unchecked.
STEP 3: Press OK -> Now you can see that the extensions are visible in the Windows.

If you want to disable the option then you have to follow the same steps just you have to make sure that the option is checked.

    Hello,

If you want to enable the file extension view when you see a file.

Then you must take care of one important thing.

When you rename the file you will have to make sure that you also provide the extension than and there otherwise your file migt not open.

Now follow these steps to enable the file extension view.

    1.Open my computer
2.Click on the Organize button given on the top bar.
    3.Select folder option from it
    4.Now select the view option
5.There you will get a screen like this
    fileextension.jpg
6.Now uncheck the line which says"Hide extension for known file types".
7.Now you can see the extensions of the files.

    hello my friend,

Windows by default hide the extensions of file,so that you cannot change the extension otherwise it leads to ambiguity.

how ever if you want to see the extension, just follow these steps:->

    1)open windiows explorer(win+E)
2)Press ALT to see the menu bar
    3)then TOOLS->folder option
    4)now uncheck hide file extension.

    ALL THE BEST.
