Yes, by default Windows 8 as only the Shutdown option but if you need the hibernate and sleep to be visible you can very well do it too by changing some settings which as follows,

STEP 1: Open Run command by pressing Windows key + R and type powercfg.cpl.
STEP 2: From the left pane click “Choose what the power buttons do”.
STEP 3: Click the “Change settings that are currently unavailable”, if Windows 8 detects the PC support for Sleep and Hibernate it shows the option there. Click the checkbox whatever you want to use i.e sleep & Hibernate.
STEP 4: Click save changes and the new options will be visible now in the shutdown dialog box.

To show hibernation in power menu, open classic control panel in windows 8
    GO TO POWER OPTIONS
Press or click on choose what the power buttons do in left panel.

select change settings that are currently unavailable.

check show hibernate which is unchecked by default.

Re: How to enable Hibernate and Sleep option in Windows 8 Shutdown dialog box?

    Hi,

As you have rightly mentioned that Windows 8 has only SHUT DOWN option , but you can always add more options to the existing one and by the following method :

Open "Run" by pressing "Windows + R" , type powercfg.cpl to configure.

on left pane click “Choose what the power buttons do”.

Click “Change settings that are currently unavailable”, (if Windows 8 detects the PC support for Sleep and Hibernate it shows).

Select checkbox to select sleep & Hibernate.

    Save changes and exit.

    Reboot and you are through.

    Thanks.
