How to improve the speed of removable disks connected with Windows 7?

When I connect removable disks like USB or SD card with my PC upgraded to Windows 7, it takes too much time to copy the required files. This adds trouble if I need to perform the export/import urgently. Is there any way available to improve the performance of removable disks?

Once you connect the removable disk to the system, click the ‘Start’ button and hit the ‘Control Panel’ option in the start menu. This will bring up the ‘Control Panel’ window from which click the ‘System and Security’ icon. Get into the ‘System’ area afterwards and make a single click on ‘Device Manager’. Hit the plus sign next to ‘Disk Drives’ so that you can view the list of drives in your system. Locate your removable disk from that list and right click on it. Choose ‘Properties’ from the menu pop up on the screen after that. Then, press the ‘Policy’ tab and select ‘Better Performance’ option. After finishing this, hit ‘OK’ button to save the changes.

    Hi,

Connect the removable disk to system,
Click Start > Control Panel > System and Security > System > Device Manager > Disk Drives > Locate removable disk from list, right click on it. > Properties > Policy > Better Performance > OK.

This should improve the performance of the external drive but there are versions of USB like 2.0, 3.0 etc. which are also responsible for the transfer speed of the data, so if you connect to a older version of USB enabled port the data transfer can be slow.

Virus also plays a big role in slowing down the system, so clean the system from any virus.

    Thanks.

    Hi, my dear friend

I think the drive you are using is causing the delay.Try to changing your removable media to any transcend products. The data transmission rate is dependant on the receiving media not on the transmitting media. So try changing your media. There is no way you can change your system speed.

    THANK YOU/!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi,

See,the most important that one should do in order to increase the speed is to scan the USB drive for viruses.
It is a common scenario that you get viruses in your USB when you plugin to a number of machines.
And due to these viruses, the transfer speed decreases.
Not only this, there are chances that these viruses might get into your system if they are not scanned and cleaned up!

So every time you plug in a USB,scan it and then transfer files!

    Bye!
