How to increase the hard disk space on Windows Vista?

The Windows Vista folder on my PC takes up a space of about 32 GB. I found the major part of the space is occupied by the winsxs folder. What are the steps needed to be taken for increasing the disk space?

Re: How to increase the hard disk space on Windows Vista?

The first method is to remove all temporary files from your PC. Press the ‘Start’ button for that and type %temp% into the corresponding field before pressing the ‘Enter’ key. You can then find tem folder from which delete all the files except the ones refuse to delete. Sometimes, CD or DVD burning may leave behind temporary files. In that case, go to C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\ Burn\Temporary Burn Folder and delete the files in it. Another method to increase the hard disk space is to run Disk Cleanup after navigating through Start->All Programs->Accessories->System Tools. It is also possible to save the space by turning off the hibernation. Get into Run window for that and enter powercfg.exe -h off into it. The hibernation will be disabled once you press the ‘Enter’ key. Type the command, powercfg.exe -h on into the Run window for activating this feature again.

    Hi,

To create space in the computer , do the following.

Clean all temporary files at regular interval, write %temp% at search box after clicking START.

Remove by either Uninstall or Deleting which ever is required, files , programs those are not important and sparecely used.

Deactivate Hibernation feature by writing powercfg.exe -h off which should free enough space in HDD.

Use DiskCleanup and Defragmenter to clean and create space.

    Thanks.

You have to increase the hard disk space by various ways:

:: First you have to delete unknown files from the disk.

:: Also delete the temporary files from the window >> Burn>> temporary folder.

:: Turn OFF the hibernation mode.

:: You have to also run the disk cleanup through which you have to delete the temporary file.

:: Also deletes larger files which are not useful for PC.
