Re: How to increase speed of virtual PC

There are many ways to improve the speed of Virtual PC.

    1) Remove Spyware:

When ever you surf Web Sites some of the Sites track your information without your Permission. This may due to Viruses. Due to this your System will become slow.

    2) Remove Temporary Files:

You can do it by going to Run>type '%temp%.. so that you can delete all the files and also clear all the cache and cookies.

    3) Free up Disk Space:

Use Disk Clean up Tool to delete the un necessary files from the Disk. So that you can use the Space effectively.

    It is used for:

    • Empty the Recylce bin.
    • Remove Temporary Internet Files.
    • Remove Unused Restore Points.
    • Delete Downloaded Program Files.
    • Delete Windows Components which you do not use.

Re: How to increase speed of virtual PC

Like your normal PC your virtual PC also needs some RAM, hard disk space ,etc which it shares with your main computer. You can adjust the settings and give as much amount of RAM you want to your virtual PC if you have enough at your disposal. To be able to run both with large amounts of RAM you simply need to install more RAM on your main machine.

Also if you have only 1 GB of RAM on your main machine then don't try to run software that require huge amount of RAM and the virtual machine at the same time. Your computer will slow down to a crawl if you do so.

Also don't try to run Windows 7 and Windows 8 simultaneously (one of them in virtual machine) or one Windows 7 on your main machine and one Windows 7 on your virtual machine if you have only 1GB of RAM;since each Windows 7 or Windows 8 would atleast require 1GB of RAM alone to function properly. So the best solution is to just buy more RAM in case you want to do so.

    Hope this was useful/

    Performs the follwoing steps

1.Click on your "Start" menu and click "All Programs."
    2.Click "Accessories" and "System Tools."
    3.Click "Disk Defragmenter."

4.Select the hard drive your Virtual PC uses and click "Analyze" to decide whether you should defragment or not. If the report shows 5 percent fragmentation, click the "Defragment" button on the drive. Wait until the process completes. You'll notice a slight increase in performance in your Virtual PC.

Re: How to increase speed of virtual PC

    Hello,
There are actually a few things which enhances the performance and speed of your PC and they are:
1)Run your host through an appropriate hardware
Always see the minimum requirement at which the OS can perform and always try to give it more than that.
2)Store your OS on a single and separate drive
Always make a separate drive for installing your OS , it will help you in losing less data when you format your computer
3)Use your host OS for running exclusively the virtual process
Devote all the resources available from your OS to the virtual processes and make sure that no other processes are draining your resources.
    4)Use the latest service pack
Make sure that you are using the latest service pack in your OS
    All the Best

    Dear,

You can remove all the temporary files from of the Desktop or from the Laptop. You can clear it from the "RUN" option and have to type the "%temp%" and Delete all the files and the folder in that Folders. By this way you can make some of the free space in your Ram. Delete all the Files and the folders from the "Recycle Bin". Dis-fragment all the drives and the memory. uninstall the unused Software. Remove all the Unused Icons from the desktop. Remove all the Icons form the start Menu. This all will help you to make your computer little or more faster. All the best.

    FRIEND
*Boosting the speed of your virtual PCs can specifically done by following the tips and tricks I am mentioning below:
    # Most importantly, store your OS in a single drive and never store any application of use and files in the same drive in which your OS is located.
    # DELETE all the temporary and unnecessary files primarily from your PCs memory.
    # Remove corrupted Programs and files to detect and remove malwares such as worms, viruses etc from the system to speed up the OS by installing good light weight anti viruses.
    # Maintain free space in your hard disk. So as to boost up the pace.
    I hope this helps.

    Hi,
As you asked, how to increase the speed of virtual PC.........I want to say that there are many ways to increase the speed of your computer.....I just tell you one of the simple methods that you can do....These are :-
    1) Empty the Recycle Bin.
    2) Clearing the history files of your browser.
    3) Spyware removal : These can conduct viruses or errors in your computer........And hence slow down your system. For that, I prefer to you to use "Firebox".....because in that browser you have many "add on" which is already active or which you can download free. And download "DNT" add on i.e "Do Not Track", which protect your system from sites track.
    4) You can do defragmentation.
    Just follow below steps:-
    a) Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Disk Defragmenter
    b) Click on "Analyze" ( which is used for knowing whether disk fragmentation is needed or not).
    c) After analyze if there is some percentage shown then click on "Defragment Disk"
That will also boost the performance of your computer
    Bye

If you are asking for an extra speed than what it is already set by your processor then it can be done only if you are using AMD processor by over-locking but it cannot be done in Intel Processor , because in Intel the frequency of the processor always varies but in AMD it is constant that's why AMD has provided an extra feature of increasing your computer speed .

Re: How to increase speed of virtual PC

Hello friends, this way u can optimize the speed of virtual PC.

On the Virtual PC menu, click Preferences.

Click Sound, and then click to select the Mute sound in background check box (unless you are using it).

Click CPU Usage, and then move the CPU usage when Virtual PC is in foreground slider all the way to the right to maximize Virtual PC performance when it is running in the foreground.

The default setting for this slider is High.

The default setting for the CPU usage when Virtual PC is in background slider is Medium.

You can move this slider to the right to increase Virtual PC performance when it is running in the background.

    Optimize the Virtual Machine Settings:

Allocate as much RAM as possible to Virtual PC:

In the Virtual PC List dialog box, click the guest operating system that you want to configure, and then click Settings.

Click PC Memory, and then move the top slider to the right to allocate more RAM to Virtual PC.

Note: Do not allocate more RAM to Virtual PC than is physically available.

Click Networking, and then click to clear the Enable Networking check box.

Note: this step disables network connectivity. Do not perform this step if you require network connectivity.

    Click Restart.

Turn off Virtual Memory (Mac OS 9 only).

Note: importantly this function is not available for VPC 6.1 in Mac OS X. The VRam can only be set to a minimum of 4 megabytes (MB).

If you are using Mac OS 9, use the Extensions Manager control panel to switch to a "base extension set"....

On the Apple menu, click Control Panels, and then click Extension Manager.

In Extensions Manager, click the arrow in the Selected Set box, and then click Mac OS version Base.

Note: Make sure that you save the current set of extensions that are running before you switch to the base extension set.

The base extension set is located either at the top of the dialog box with a drop-down menu or on the File menu.

    Restart your computer.

And importantly quit all nonessential programs.

Hope this solution works out perfectly...

Re: How to increase speed of virtual PC

    Free up disk space

The Disk Cleanup tool helps you to free up space on your hard disk to improve the performance of your computer. The tool identifies files that you can safely delete and lets you choose to delete some, all, or none of the identified files.
    Use Disk Cleanup to:
    • Remove temporary Internet files.
    • Delete downloaded program files, such as Microsoft ActiveX controls and Java applets.
    • Empty the Recycle Bin.
    • Remove Windows temporary files, such as error reports.
    • Delete optional Windows components that you don't use.
    • Delete installed programs that you no longer use.
    • Remove unused restore points and shadow copies from System Restore.
    • Delete system files (Windows 8).

      Speed up access to data

Disk fragmentation slows the overall performance of your system. When files are fragmented, the computer must search the hard disk as a file is opened (to piece it back together). The response time can be significantly longer.
Optimize Drives (Windows 8) and Disk Defragmenter (sometimes shortened to Defrag by users) are Windows utilities that consolidate fragmented files and folders on your computer's hard disk so that each occupies a single space on the disk. With your files stored neatly end to end, without fragmentation, reading and writing to the disk speeds up.
When to run Optimize Drives or Disk Defragmenter
In addition to running these utilities at regular intervals (weekly is optimal), there are other times you should run it, too, such as when:
      • You add a large number of files.
      • Your free disk space totals 15 percent or less.
      • You install new programs or a new version of the Windows operating system.
      To use Optimize Drives:
      1. Open Optimize Drives by swiping in from the right edge of the screen, tappingSearch (or if you're using a mouse, pointing to the upper-right corner of the screen, moving the mouse pointer down, and then clicking Search), enteringDefragment in the search box, tapping or clicking Settings, and then tapping or clicking Defragment and optimize your drives.
      2. Under Status, tap or click the drive you want to optimize. (The Media typecolumn tells you what type of drive you're optimizing.)
      3. To determine if the drive needs to be optimized, tap or click Analyze. You might be asked for an admin password or to confirm your choice.
After Windows is finished analyzing the drive, check the Current status column to see whether you need to optimize the drive. If the drive is more than 10% fragmented, you should optimize the drive now.
      4. Tap or click Optimize. You might be asked for an admin password or to confirm your choice.
Optimizing a drive might take anywhere from several minutes to a few hours to finish, depending on the size of the drive and degree of optimization needed. You can still use your PC during the optimization process.
        Detect and repair disk errors

In addition to running Optimize Drives, Disk Cleanup, and Disk Defragmenter to optimize the performance of your computer, you can check the integrity of the files stored on your hard disk by running the Error Checking utility.
As you use your hard drive, it can develop bad sectors. Bad sectors slow down hard disk performance and sometimes make data writing (such as file saving) difficult or even impossible. The Error Checking utility scans the hard drive for bad sectors and scans for file system errors to see whether certain files or folders are misplaced.
If you use your computer daily, you should run this utility once a week to help prevent data loss.
