How to recover from intermittent network connections?

My network connection in Windows 7 is getting disconnected periodically? What all changes should I make to stop this?

Turning of the power saving option in the network adapter is a possible solution to this issue. Bring up the start menu and click on Control panel. Select Network and Internet and then click on Network and Sharing Center. Now select Manage network connection. Now the connections will appear. Right click on the connection which faces the problems and click the Properties tab. Give passwords if necessary and go to Configure option in the Networking tab. Now click on Power Management tab and uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” box and click OK.
