How to restrict internet access in my child's user account in windows 7?

I have windows 7 computer where i have configured two user account- one for myself and other for my children. He is still a 14 year boy. I always use internet in my computer and in my absense my son also uses internet with his own user's account. I have some issues with it. Actually I have a fear that it can leave negative impact on my son's mind because he can open adult sites. That's the reason why, I want to restrict internet access for him but I don't want to keep him completely away from computer. Is there any way to do the same?

Yes you can restrict internet access on your son's user account. It is not a tough issue.By blocking internet access to your son's user account, you would be able to save your son from opening any kind of sites on his account. To do the same, make sure that UAC is enabled and then move to Control Panel>> Network and Sharing Center. Now click on "Local Area Connection". Now navigate to Properties>>Internet Protocol Version 4>> Properties and choose "Use the following IP address". Finally leave the Default gateway blank and enjoy

    Dear Friend!!
You can not block the internet to be accessed on the computer but you can block the use of the browser that the child surfs.
This will defaultly make your child not to access the internet.
You have to open the control panel and in large icon category, open "parental controls".,

    • Under Parental Controls, click On, enforce current settings.

    • Once you've turned on Parental Controls for your child's standard user account, you can adjust the individual settings for internet as-
Allow or block specific programs- You can prevent children from running programs that you don't want them to run.
      now-

      • Click the name of the person you want to prevent from using specific programs.
      • Under Parental Controls, click On, enforce current settings.
      • Click Allow and block specific programs.
      • Click Person's name* can only use the programs I allow.
      • Select the programs that you want to allow. If the program you want doesn't appear in the list, click Browse to locate the program.
Select all the browser present in your Computer or only select the program that enables to connect the internet on your device.
        And Done!!

    Hello friend..

Firstly you need to create a group policy then you restrict to access the internet in your child..

Create new group and apply the policy:-

    • Create a new policy in GPMC by right-clicking your domain and pressing New. Name the policy No Internet. Or Press windows + R, the run windows will show, type in gpedit.msc
    • Right-click No Internet and press Enforced to check it.
    • Select No Internet in the left-hand pane, select Authenticated Users under Security Filtering and press Remove, and OK to prevent the policy from applying.
    • Using Group Policy to implement Internet Explorer settings, navigate to User Configuration / Windows Settings / Internet Explorer Maintenance in the No Internet policy.
    • Right-click Internet Explorer Maintenance and press Preference Mode. NOTE: If a policy is already defined, you must press Reset Browser Settings, which will reset any Internet Explorer Maintenance Group Policy, before you press Preference Mode.
    • Navigate through Connections and double-click Proxy Settings (Preference Mode).
    • Check Enable proxy Settings, Use the same proxy server for all addresses, and Do not use proxy server for local (intranet) addresses.
    • Type 127.0.0.1 into Address of proxy and 80 into Port.
    • Press OK.
    • Close the No Internet group Policy.

To prevent a user from accessing the internet:-

    • Select the No Internet group Policy under your domain and press Add under Security Filtering.
    • Use the Advanced dialog to locate and select the user, pressing OK.
    • Press OK.
    • If the user is logged on, force the policy to update.

    all the best!!

Re: How to restrict internet access in my child's user account in windows 7?

    Hi,

You can block your childs net access or partially stop your child from accessing restricted and objectionable sites by using the Parental Control Utility offered by the Windows. Here is how you can deploy it.

    Open Parental Controls by clicking
Start > Control Panel > User Accounts > Set up Parental Controls (an administrator password or confirmation may be required),

Click "standard user account" on which you want to set "Parental Controls".
    Click On.
After turning on Parental Controls for your child's standard user account, adjust the individual settings to control.
You can control the following areas:

You can restrict the websites that children can visit, that children only visit appropriate websites, wheather you want to allow file downloads, and set up content you want to block and allow. You can also block or allow specific websites.

You can set time limits to control when children are allowed to log on. Time limits prevent children from logging on anytime, even if they are already logged on, they will be automatically logged off.

    Thanks.
