Icons of certain programs recently removed still displayed.

I had uninstalled some programs recently. But when I looked up for these programs later I see that they are still there. Do I need to delete these items or was the uninstall failed?

    Hi,
The icons are showing on the desktop means they were not uninstalled insted the programs were deleted from the system.
The delete only deletes the files marked superficially, but uninstall uproots the whole program from the disk and even from the registry.
So thats what it seems. Now if you try to uninstall it eill fail if the rest of the program is deleted and the uninstaller will notify that uninstall failed as files are missing.
In this scenerio, you can take help of some third party softwares to uninstall those programs with unmovable footprint.
Or you can reinstall those programs and then uninstall them from control panel.
    Thanking you.

    Hiiiiiiii
Even though you uninstall some programs it says error has be occurred or cannot uninstall when uninstall file is missing, this problem arises when some files are corrupted and uninstall file is deleted it says the uninstall file is missing then you need to install the software again and now you can uninstall.
if there are any errors are present the download Tune up utilities and install and if there are any errors present then it solves the problem also system works fast.
    Thank You

    dear friend,

You must reboot your computer after every uninstall in your system.

Check that you've successfully uninstalled the software or not.

Go to control panel & select Uninstall a program option.

Search for the program that you've uninstalled.

If found then uninstall the program using recommended settings.

If you face trouble uninstalling then use any third party tool to uninstall & after it, reboot your computer.

If found nothing then you don't have to worry about that.

The icons which you are viewing after uninstalling is only the shortcut of the program.

System makes a quick launch/access shortcut when you install any program.

At the time of uninstalling , the system removes only the program-not the path or the icon.

So you have to manually remove these shortcuts by pressing shift+delete & hit the enter.

Hope these info will help you.

    Hello friends........

Right click an empty space on the taskbar. Now click, Properties, Taskbar, Customize, and look under Current Items, click under Behavior an item you wish to hide. You will then have the option to change how this icon appears by clicking the V and looking at the options.

Actually, the above method only allows you to HIDE the icons. They are still there though, and still make booting up slower. To actually REMOVE them from the tray, you have to go to the Start Menu/Run... then type "msconfig". Then just uncheck the items you want to remove from the Taskbar.

If you want to remove a single program from the taskbar you simply right click on the unwanted program and click on delete.

Note this will not remove the program from the computer just the taskbar shortcut.

The icons on the right, next to the clock are known as the 'system tray' icons. These icons are actually programs that are currently running and therefore in most cases you will not want to remove them however you may want to 'hide' them. Do this by RIGHT clicking on the system tray and choosing PROPERTIES and then CUSTOMIZE button. You can choose "always show" (I recommend this for antivirus and volume control for sure) "hide when inactive" this is what they will most be set as at first, you should change these to "always hide" when you know you don't need to see any changes for monitoring.

    If you have Windows XP:
    1. Go to the "Start" menu on your computer
    2. Select "Control Panel"
    3. Click on the "Add or Remove Programs" icon
    4. Find "icon name" in the list of programs, select it and click on the "Remove" button to its right.
    5. Follow on-screen prompts to remove the application
