    Hello friend..

The error may come up even if your computer's configuration matches the system requirements of windows 8.1.
Fortunately there is a simple fix available to help you get around this common error.

Just follow the steps given below:

->Create a new folder in c: drive name it as temp and save this file (Windows8-RT-KB2849636-x86.msu) to your c:\temp folder.

->Now open the command prompt and run it as administrator and switch to c:\temp folder.
    [cd c:\temp (press enter)]

->Now type the command given below to unarchive the patch type.
    'Expand -F:* Windows8-RT-KB2849636-x86.msu'

-> Now you'll find a bunch of new files in your temp directory. Now type the following command to install the windows8.1 patch:
    'DISM.exe /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:Windows8-RT-KB2849636-x64.cab'

Now the system will prompted with a message asking for restart the computer. Then type 'y' without the quotes and press enter then restart the computer then your problem gets solved.

Hope this may help to you......

When you are receiving error message like this , it means two prime issues.1. A corrupt image file of Windows 8.1 in your disk that is being used for installation.2. A corrupt Media for storage.Either the Media where you have created the Installer Image for installing Windows 8.1 was corrupt beforehand or after .Or the downloaded ISO for Windows 8.1 was corrupt.Download again and create another Installer Media for Windows 8.1 and install from it.Try it.
