    Issue with not connecting to microsoft updates in Windows Vista

    Hi, if i am trying to install any updates then system showing me an error message that it cannot currently check for updates ,service is not running. I don't know the reason that why i am getting this message? Can anyone suggest me tips to recover this issue, help me!!

    Hi.
    Follow the below methods:
    Method 1:
    >>[FONT=Segoe UI, Arial, sans-serif]Click on [/FONT]Start, click Run, type services.msc in the Open text box, and then click OK.
    >>Locate Windows Update.
    >>Right click on the service and select Properties.
    >>In Start-up type, select Enable.
    >>Click Start under Service status.
    >>Click OK.



    Method 2:
    To start the Windows Update service, follow these steps:
    >>Click Start and then click Run. Copy and paste (or type) cmd in the Open box and then press ENTER.
    >>Type the following commands at a command prompt.
    >>net start bits and then press ENTER.
    >>net start wuauserv and then press ENTER.

    Method 3:
    To check whether the services are running, follow these steps:
    >>Click Start and then click Control Panel.
    >>Click Administrative Tools by Large icon view.
    >>Click Services.
    >>Make sure the service name called "Background Intelligent Transfer Service" is running.
    >>
    Make sure the service name called "Windows Update" is running.
    Method 4:
    To turn on Automatic Updates yourself, follow these steps:
    >>Click Start, type Windows update in the search box, and then click Windows Update in the Programs list.
    >>In the left pane, click Change settings.
    >>Select the option that you want.
    >>Under Recommended updates, select the Give me recommended updates the same way I receive important updates or Include recommended updates when downloading, installing, or notifying me about updates check box, and then click OK.

    HI dear friend.............to solve the above issue ......simply go this way

    first of all press windows key+r and type services.msc and press ENTER key

    then find the windows update from the list and right click on it and select stop

    after that ..open the my computer......and go to HOME DRIVE ( OS INSTALLED DRIVE )

    then open the WINDOWS folder .....and double click on software distribution folder

    now open the DATA STORE folder and delete all the data from the folder

    and now go to one step back and open the download folder and delete all the data from the folder

    then restart the PC.......after that again go to run and type services.msc and press ENTER key

    and find windows update option and right click on it .....and select START

    then your problem will be solved.............ALL THE BEST
