Keyboard and Mouse randomly stop working in Windows XP

My system runs in Windows XP. After a recent update, the keyboard and mouse randomly hang and do not work properly. The orange light blinks and then it becomes unresponsive. Why does this happen?

    Hi,

From the output of your recent update, it clearly shows something is wrong with the update.

Have you downloaded from Microsoft website or from any site that offers it?

Check the system for any virus present in files by a standard Antivirus, also check for any spyware or malware those may have infiltreted your system.

If the keyboard and mouse still refuse to work smoothly, uninstall the in question update first, Then move towards Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Device Manager > from KEYBOARD and ,MICE and OTHER POINTING DEVICE menues First UNINSTALL the driver then UPDATE DRIVER will help you to load fresh driver in your system and you will be able to run peripherals smoothly.

    Thanks.

The following are found at (c:\windows\system32\drivers)

    b. Usbehci.sys

    c. Usbhub.sys

    d. Usbport.sys

These are all the windows USB drivers.

    2. Copy them to their respective locations via a cd by booting to an MS-DOS prompt.

I think This may be hardware Problem i means Check Your Keyboard or Mouse USB port is Properly Attached and there Port Pin.
Or May Be Its Your Software Problem so Check the system for any virus present in files by a standard Antivirus, also check for any spyware or malware those may have infiltreted your system.
If the keyboard and mouse still refuse to work smoothly, uninstall the in question update first, Then move towards Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Device Manager > from KEYBOARD and ,MICE and OTHER POINTING DEVICE menus First UNINSTALL the driver then UPDATE DRIVER will help you to load fresh driver in your system and you will be able to run peripherals smoothly.

    Hi, Dear friend

Most of the Times the above issue occured when ... the update corrupted or improper installation Cases

So, First of all try to re-install/uninstall the update to ..... check if it helps ......that is

press windows key+R and type appwiz.cpl and click OK ... Now select the SHOW UPDATES box from the top of the window

Now find the updates .....and uninstall them first ..... after that go to run and type %homedrive%\Windows\SoftwareDistribution and click OK

now open the DOWNLOAD folder ... and delete the Same Updates from the download folder too ...

After that RESTART the PC .... now ...again download the Updates ....and re-install them ....

Now check if it helps ..........and after that fresh installation also the same problem appears ....simply go to DEVICE MANAGER

uninstall the KEYBOARD and MOUSE drivers ...... and re-install them ........after that it will be solved

    THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hello my dear Friend

The Reason Behind the issue is " Power " issue you have to check the Power issues first

Try to go to click on the " Power Options " which is on the Control panel

Check the Power is Connect to the External devices or not

Again See the issue and you can face the Same problem then try to follow the below steps

--> First thing you have to do is " Start " menu and then Go to click on " My computer "

--> You can see the " Organize " option

--> Then click on the " Properties " which is on the at the Bottom of the Properties

--> After that you can click on the " Device Manager " option

--> Now click on it and you can see the List of Drivers "

You must Remember one thing both Mouse and the Keyboard are Related to a USB drivers

--> So try to Uninstall and Then Reboot the system and it will Reassign to them

    That is all

    Good luck
