Microphone stops working after plugging the headphone in Windows 7

I am using windows 7 OS from last few years and know lot more about it. I always solve minor problems myself but this time, The problem is lot more difficult. I am using Realtek HD Audio in my windows 7 computer. It is behaving in strange manner in the sense that the microphone stops working after headphone is plugged in. Do you have any solution?

Navigate to Control Panel>>Sound>>Recording Tab. Click on "Configure" button and setup the Microphone by following the Microphone setup wizard. Three choice will appear before you i.e Headset Microphone, Desktop Microphone and Other. You should select "Desktop Microphone" instead of "Headset Microphone". You are facing issues because you are using the Headset Microphone option.

    Hi aspirant,

Its obvious that your desktop micro phone will stop working after you insert the head phone.

Now the only voice intake will happen from your head phone's micro phone if it is available.

--->>>Steps to change the micro phone settings:

--Go to the Computer option on your desktop.

--Then go to the control panel available under the menu bar.

--Then go to the option sounds option over there.

--Then navigate yourself to recording tab.

--There click on the configure option and then check the check box beside the desktop Microphone.

--You will get your problem resolved.

    ALL THE BEST

You need to be certain about the condition of the headset first, try the headset in another system and be sure the hardware is in good condition.

Get the settings for the headset , specifically the microphone setting right.
Click CONTROL PANEL--HARDWARE AND SOUND--RECORDING--CONFIGURE--MICROPHONE CONFIGURE WIZARD and follow the prompt to set the microphone which might be deactivated earlier.

Install the driver for your sound card again. Insert the Realtek CD into optical drive and install the driver for audio which will solve the driver problem if any.
