Missing “Open with Notepad” option in the right click menu in Windows 7

In order to open a ‘.txt’ file in notepad, I found that right click menu does not have the option “Open with Notepad” in my Windows 7 System. I need to get it back. Please, anyone help me in solving the problem.

Re: Missing “Open with Notepad” option in the right click menu in Windows 7

    Follow these steps.

Click “Start” and type “regedit” in the Search box, hit Enter.
    Find and move to “ HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT > * > shell”.
Right - Click on it and select New >> Key.
Rename the Key to “Open with Notepad”.
Create a new Key called “Command” below the Key created in the Previous Step.
Double - Click on the created Key “Command” and click “Default”.
Give the value “notepad.exe %1” to the Key “Command”.
Your Problem is Solved and now right click on any ‘.txt’ file and you can see the “Open with Notepad” Option in the right click menu.
