Monitor not displaying in Windows Vista

After installing Windows Vista, monitor is not showing anything after first boot. I can hear the Windows start up sound. What should be done in such a situation?

The reporting is very sketchy . What do you mean, the monitor is not active or in Device Driver setting there is no monitor option display?

Assuming the monitor is totally out of operation, let me suggest you, try to boot in Safe Mode, by pressing F8 at the time of booting.

Can you see the monitor working? The problem is that the Display Driver is possibly Missing from the Windows installation.

Insert Windows Vista installation disk in the optical drive and boot from it. Repair the Windows by it. Once complete, the Monitor will again come in action.

Can you access Safe Mode? Repeatedly tap F8 as you boot? If so you can try Control Panel
    - Device Manager - Display Adapter - Double Click on - Driver tab - click UPDATE driver -
then Right Click on Device and UNINSTALL - REBOOT.

Another method to try to access the desktop (try in both regular Windows and Safe Mode)
is to CTRL + ALT + DEL and on Process Tab find EXPLORER.exe and END PROCESS on it -
then on Applications Tab - lower right - New Task - type in EXPLORER.exe . Safe Mode is
reached by repeatedly tapping F8 as you boot up.
